I really enjoyed reading the Winter 1998 edition of the Huntington Quarterly. You really told it the way it was. It brought memories from long ago. There are many articles written about me, some good and some bad. Yours was one of the best I have ever read. Good luck and keep up the good work.

The article on Chuck Yeager was fabulous! There should be a movie (about his life).

I’ve never been so complimented as by your good opinion as expressed and revealed by your mighty efforts in my favor though Huntington Quarterly’s Summer 2010 issue. You may have created confusion among your readers as to the true identity of your elderly subject. On all counts, though, for this and other reasons I am as grateful as any man can be to another. I hope and trust that the end-product won’t hurt the flow of your career that has benefited your wide audience in doing what you do so well. Best of all, as I’ve always felt, is your talent and ability to write with both head and heart. I have lived a good life, and you are one of the reasons why. If anyone was to relate it, I am happy that it was you!

Bill Campbell

Your article on Bill Campbell does a wonderful job of accurately reflecting the innate class of that gentleman.

I would like to commend Jack Houvouras on his “Last Great Amateur” article about Mr. Campbell. The article was very well written. It captured the great love and obvious skill of the game that Mr. Campbell possesses, and it captured his great leadership and statesmanship for golf that his life has exhibited. Thanks so much for this great look at a great champion.

I believe that the article on Paul Ambrose’s life was the most moving story ever. I knew Paul and his family from Barboursville Little League. Paul was “all that and more,” as shown in the article. A bright light extinguished too soon.

Thank you for the compelling and powerful story of Dr. Paul Ambrose. I have shared it with many who may not have heard of Paul and his extraordinary young life. The article also revealed a glimpse into the greatness of his mom and dad. My wife, daughter and I will always treasure this article and his memory.

Thank you for writing and publishing the wonderful story on the life of your father and his family in Huntington. It needed to be told and made a permanent part of Huntington history. I knew and admired him for the person he was.

What a glowing, loving tribute to your father Andy Houvouras. I found it refreshing to read something so positive and inspiring – he instilled love and respect in his family and they are blessed to have treasured memories of him.

I just had to write and tell you how much I enjoyed the article you wrote on your father. It was compelling, it was touching, it was inspiring. It was truly a great piece. Reading the article not only made me feel like I had known Mr. Houvouras, but the reaction it had was to make me want to be a better person. Thank you for sharing his wonderful life with your readers.
